Reconnections to OUR Culture
The Brandon Friendship Centre Inc. and The National Sixties Scoop Healing Foundation of Canada has come into collaboration, to provide a safe space for Sixties Scoop Survivors & their families. In September of 2025, "A Home for Healing" opened it's doors to continue providing opportunities to "reclaim, revitalize, maintain, and strengthen indigenous languages" and culture. The Home for Healing offers language classes (Anishinaabemowin, Cree, Dakota, and Michif) as they can assist in establishing individual identities and improve personal betterment and mental wellness. These classes are now offered online so that people can still participate and learn remotely. Cultural immersive art can be considered a form of therapy that encourages the development of healthy coping strategies (beading, art, and sewing classes)
